Peace-of-mind security at Eastlands

Post by: Eastlands Estate, 08 Feb 2018

Security is top of mind for all South Africans. But for many older people, especially those living alone, ensuring their personal safety is an ongoing concern. In fact, improved security is one of the primary reasons over 50s choose to sell their private homes and move into secure estates.

That being said, older people often don’t want to give up their beautiful spacious family homes for little shoebox units in busy suburban retirement estates. While security is important, it’s often not prioritised at the expense of comfortable living in a peaceful neighbourhood.

We understand these concerns, which is why at Eastlands we’re proud to be able to offer our residents the absolute best of both worlds: secure estate living in a serene, quiet country setting. Nothing says ‘dream retirement’ quite like a safe and secure home in the countryside.

In designing the estate, we consulted top security experts to ensure we adopted the very latest, and most comprehensive, security systems available. As such, Eastlands Estate boasts:

  • A 2.4m boundary wall with individual zoned electric fencing
  • An extensive network of CCTV cameras
  • 24-hour active guarding
  • 24-hour secure access control
  • A phone-activated panic alarm system in all homes, linked to the security gatehouse, frail care centre and armed response
  • A separate, secured contractors’ entrance for contractors to use during the construction of the last remaining houses on the estate

While on the topic of security, we’d like to share with you a few pointers to keeping you and your homes safe. Whether you currently live in a private home or in an estate, it’s vital to always ensure your personal security.

You can do this by:

  • Checking that your doors and windows are locked when you are not at home and at night
  • Ensuring that you have burglar bars on all your opening windows (and that the bars are in good condition i.e. no rust or weak spots) and security gates on all external doors
  • Ensuring that you lock away all valuables
  • Keeping everyday items like your cellphone, wallet and jewellery out of plain sight and away from open windows
  • Locking your vehicle when unattended
  • Not going outdoors by yourself at night

At Eastlands, we have done everything in our power to ensure the safety of our residents, and would be happy to show you our extensive security systems when next you visit our estate.
